THE KEY IDEA

A correction should explain what changed and why, while preserving the evidence needed to understand it.

01

Define the scope of review

This page is a policy framework. A correction process requires a named review owner, documented supporting records and an appropriately resourced workflow. Response times and review outcomes should only be stated when they can be supported.

02

Collect a specific, evidence-backed request

The proposed process would ask for the page URL, the exact statement in question, the reason it may be inaccurate and a source supporting the requested change. It would avoid requesting account passwords, full identity documents or unrelated financial records. A correction request would be treated as evidence to assess rather than proof by itself.

03

Review against the original scope

A reviewer would check the original source, its date, the record reference and any later record. Newly changed information would be distinguished from an error in the original publication. Official source pages would be consulted directly; a screenshot without context would not automatically override a dated finding.

04

Explain the outcome publicly when appropriate

Material amendments would carry a brief description, an amendment date and the affected scope. Where a conclusion could no longer be supported, the proposed process would withdraw or qualify it while the review remained unresolved. Requests involving personal information or legal disputes would need a separate appropriate handling process.

An editorial outcome would not determine a customer’s legal rights, complaint eligibility or financial redress.
